"Drip" was created for the January
2007 Wis-Kino showing in Madison, Wisconsin. The theme for the month
was 'drip'. The concept for "Drip" hit me immediately (I knew
what I wanted to do on the drive home) but it took quite a bit of planning
to achieve the finished film.
This project was the first film I was able to create for myself using
my new Canon XL-HD camera. Even though I had the camera for a few months
I
was too busy to use it because I was in the midst of editing Paul Rienhard's "Damaged".
Because of my interest in circular stories (where the story ends
back at the beginning) I already had the beginning and the
end of the film
conceptualized.
I threw the idea at a few of my Art students and one gave me the
idea for the dominoes! Perhaps the most obvious choice in my Rube
Goldberg-esk short
film and I can't even take credit for it!
Admittedly, the shot of the cat isn't the strongest but in my defense
the darn kitty wasn't all that interested in participating and
each time it
reached the end of the string... it laid down! The film has been
showcased in many festivals so far.
